For wheelchair bound individuals getting into or out of their home with even a few stairs can be difficult. To be ADA compliant, ramps need to be 1 foot long for every inch of vertical height. Therefore, if you have only 2 or 3 stairs which are as little as 2 feet high (24 inches) going into your home, the ramp needs to be 24 feet long. The longest portable ramps are 12 feet long.
